Maybe this could be implemented using the "Quest system" and adding a scientist NPC To Give quests to upgrade and perhaps making it so its a tree, so you have to chose a path (Multiple routes lock other abilities off)

KawaiiPikachu Yes....Im aware....that's kinda specifically what I don't wanna do 😩 don't wanna turn it into a full blown RPG system...I love em a lot don't get me wrong, just doesn't feel like it'd fit in...quests would be fine tho...still a lot of work and it'd be the only race with a quest progression system but...a bit better

wynd I get what you mean, but one of the only alternatives too have this customization is to either put it in the player menu or have it pop up when they level up their doriki (Which Would be Annoying to many players). and in my opinion cyborg could use some cooler moves compared to the other races but i understand they need to be balanced hence the tree system.

wynd I have a lot of ideas about implants, but you don't want to do implants. Then I would make something like a book or a trainer (scientist), so that skils are opened gradually, not over time, not only from the number of doriki, but by pumping them, according to the same rpg-system (and so it would be for all other races, and I would do the same for fruits (you can even add a separate config later so that people can choose the system as the old or new). Also, a cyborg needs a shield. It really needs a shield, besides the basic increased defence it really needs a shield.

you can make cyborgs not be a "race" but each one can decide if they want to add improved or robotic parts to their body (weapons and stuff like that)
but obviously have some kind of debuff since not everything can be good
for example you get slower the more things you have or you lose access to having doriki (instead the progress of it could mean a scaling in its already reduced speed or access to improvements)
also add a specialization like mechanic where depending on the level of it allows access to better things to install components both in your body and it can be from a nakama (plus you have to get materials and stuff like that)
